How much does a new driveway cost in Kent?
The cost of a new driveway in Kent depends on the size of the area, the surface you choose (block paving, resin-bound, tarmac or gravel) and the amount of groundwork needed. Rather than quote a one-size-fits-all figure, we provide a free, no-obligation site survey and a clear written quotation, so you know the exact price before any work begins, with no deposit required. As a guide, resin-bound and premium block paving cost more than basic tarmac or gravel. All new clients also receive 15% off their first order, and every quotation includes preparation, materials, installation and clearing away waste.
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
In most cases you will not need planning permission to lay or replace a driveway, as it usually falls under Permitted Development. The main exception is drainage: if you use a non-permeable surface over five square metres and rainwater runs off onto the public road, planning permission may be needed. Our resin-bound surfaces are permeable and SuDS-compliant, so water drains naturally through the surface, which typically avoids the need for planning permission. Extra rules can apply if your property is in a Conservation Area or is a Listed Building, and we are happy to advise on your specific property during your free survey.
How long does a driveway installation take?
Most residential driveway installations in Kent are completed within three to five working days, though the exact timescale depends on the size of the area, the surface you choose and the groundwork required. A straightforward replacement on firm ground is quicker, while larger driveways or those needing extensive excavation and a new sub-base take a little longer, and resin-bound surfaces need a short curing period before use. We give you a realistic timescale in your written quotation before we start, work efficiently to minimise disruption, and keep the site tidy, clearing away all waste once the job is finished.
